Proactive & Conservative Treatment
When it comes to orthodontics, we believe less is often more. We want to provide the most efficient and effective treatment possible for patients of all ages, but especially when dealing with early intervention for children.
Orthodontics for Everyone
At Leone & Vaughn Orthodontics, we believe orthodontics is for everyone. We offer treatment tailored to the needs of children, teens, and adults, and accessible payment options that can fit almost any budget.
Early Assessments for Children
One of the best ways to ensure your child has healthy oral development is to have them seen by an orthodontist by age seven. This allows us to identify, monitor, and treat any orthodontic issues as they begin to emerge.
Orthodontics for Oral Health
While orthodontic treatment can create beautiful smiles, it's about so much more than esthetics. Orthodontics can help patients of all ages establish better oral health that improves their day-to-day lives.
Better Oral Function
Improving the alignment of the teeth and jaws can help improve their actual function – biting, chewing, and speaking. It can be debilitating for people to have issues with these functions, and we love helping patients get through it.
Better Oral Hygiene
Straight teeth are fundamentally easier to clean than crooked teeth. It's easier to access all the spaces between the teeth with a toothbrush and floss when they're evenly spaced out. Orthodontic treatment ends up making a huge difference in our patient's oral health, ultimately helping them avoid conditions such as tooth decay and gum disease.
Long-Term Damage Prevention
As misaligned teeth move against each other in uneven patterns during talking and chewing, they can sustain a lot of wear and tear. Straightening your teeth can help avoid this and reduce the need for future restorative dental care.
Knowledge is Power for Patients
Well-informed patients are more likely to be successful with their orthodontic treatment. For this reason, our team prioritizes patient communication.
Our team is always available to answer questions. It is our job to sure every patient understands each element and stage of their treatment.
Here are our answers to some questions we are frequently asked by new patients about orthodontics.
-
What is an orthodontist?
An orthodontist is a dental specialist in the diagnosis, prevention, management, and correction of misaligned teeth, jaws, and bite patterns.
Candidates must complete an additional three years of university and earn the specialty designation.
-
What are the benefits of orthodontics?
Orthodontics are about more than giving you a beautiful smile. While the esthetic benefits are a large factor in why some people undergo treatment, orthodontics can do so much more!
Firstly, misaligned teeth are more difficult to clean than straight teeth are. This means that people with misalignments are more prone to tooth decay and gum disease.
Furthermore, misaligned teeth and jaws can create problems with basic oral functions such as chewing and even breathing. This misalignment can also create significant pain for patients. Improving the alignment of the teeth and jaws can resolve these problems.
-
At what age should someone seek orthodontic treatment?
We typically recommend that children visit the orthodontist for the first time by the age of seven.
These early evaluations give us an opportunity to identify and treat emerging, isolated orthodontic issues and treat them promptly. Sometimes, we can work with a child's developing upper jaw to guide healthy growth. This type of early intervention can help prepare for orthodontic treatment in the teen or adult years.
That said, it's never too late to start prioritizing your oral health! As long as their teeth and gums are healthy, adults in their 30s, 40s, and beyond can benefit from orthodontics too.
-
How can I tell if I need orthodontic treatment?
The best way to know for sure if you could benefit from orthodontic treatment is to be evaluated by any orthodontist. You can request an appointment with us at any time (no referral needed!).
That being said, some signs that you should book a consultation include:
- Visibly misaligned teeth or bite
- Pain or discomfort when chewing
- Difficulty chewing or speaking
- Chronic facial or jaw pain
- Difficulty brushing and flossing
-

-
How much does orthodontic treatment with braces or Invisalign cost?
The cost of orthodontic treatment varies depending on a number of factors, such as the complexity of the case being treated and the amount of time it will take to correct it.
The cost will also differ depending on the treatment method you choose.
Our team will work with you to develop a treatment plan that considers your budget. We're also happy to help you submit insurance claims and develop a financing plan to alleviate some of the stress of paying for treatment.
